“The Health Quality Council is using Lean principles to reduce waits and improve the experience for Saskatchewan women with breast cancer. In 2007, as part of our efforts to study patient pathways an apply Lean methods, we invited Carol Lepper to be our key-note speaker and facilitator for a two-dayworkshop. Carol’s experiences the “front-lines” of Lean healthcare projects and her ability to directly address how staff could be empowered to improve processes sparked interest in our Saskatchewan teams. She delivered a powerfully relevant message that although the pursuit of improvement is challenging, it would be worth the effort.
